JASON GLENWRIGHT
Jason Glenwright has designed over 200 productions specialising in theatre, music theatre, opera, concerts, cabaret, dance and puppetry. He is one of Brisbane's most highly awarded designers of the last ten years, having won a Matilda Award in 2016 and 2015, a Gold Matilda Award in 2013, as well as subsequent nominations in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017 plus Groundling Awards in 2010, 2012, 2013 and nine Del Arte Chart awards over the last eight years. Two thousand seventeen credits included two production's presented by La Boite Theatre Company, including Little Red's World Premiere of LADY BEATLE and Dead Puppet Society's World Premiere production of Tim Sharp's LASER BEAK MAN (also presented as part of Brisbane Festival). With shake & stir, GEORGE's MARVELLOUS MEDICINE played to a sold-out season at the Sydney Opera House. DRACULA went on a seven-month tour playing in major venues across Australia. Jason collaborated with the 2016 Helpmann Award Winning director Lee Lewis on Queensland Theatre and Griffin Theatre Company's production of RICE. Jason also collaborated with the Queensland Camerata (Queensland's Chamber Orchestra) on their CLASSIQUE Concert, lit JUTE Theatre's premiere production of HERE WE ALL ARE. ASSEMBLED plus JUTE and Brisbane Powerhouse's new musical JOH FOR PM. Other highly acclaimed shows of 2017 included BOYS OF SONDHEIM with the Brisbane Powerhouse. I JUST CAME TO SAY GOODBYE to the Good room and the Brisbane Festival, among many other productions.
In 2016 Jason's engagements included KISS ME, KATE for Opera Queensland, and Little Red's RUMOUR HAS IT presented at the Sydney Opera House. Jason designed Shake & stir's productions of ENDGAME and the Australian national tours of WUTHERING HEIGHTS and TEQUILA MOCKINGBIRD, plus the premier of GEORGE'S MARVELLOUS MEDICINE in Brisbane that toured to Auckland. Jason returned to La Boite for THE TRAGEDY OF RICHARD III, JUTE Theatre THE SALT REMAINS, PARADISE IS SINGING, and Oscar Theatre to design BOY & GIRL 3. Jason also lit premier seasons of HANAKO for Belloo Productions/ Brisbane Festival, TRUE WEST for TAM Productions, plus the 2016 Matilda Award-winning productions VIRAL for Shock Therapy and CARRIE THE MUSICAL for Wax Lyrical. In 2015 for the Queensland Conservatorium, Jason designed HANSEL & GRETEL THE OPERA directed by Michael Gow, Queensland Theatre's production of COUNTRY SONG directed by Wesley Enoch and Dead Puppet Society's production of ARGUS, which toured QLD and has had subsequent shows in the US including the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (NYC).

Jason's work in Music Theatre includes CATS The Arena Spectacular, GUYS & DOLLS, BLOOD BROTHERS, OKLAHOMA!, HAIRSPRAY, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR for Harvest Rain, WORKING THE MUSICAL, RENT, INTO THE WOODS, HAIR, MISS SAIGON, CAROUSEL, ELEGIES, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF for the Queensland Conservatorium, NEXT TO NORMAL, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, TITLE OF SHOW for Oscar Theatre and WRECKING BALL for Little Red.
In 2018 Jason looked forward to collaborating with Queensland Theatre, Debase Productions and JUTE Theatre on the world premiere of THE LONGEST MINUTE, SAMEVILLE with Shock Therapy as part of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Festival and BEGINNINGS to be performed at the Munro Martin Parklands as part of the 2018 Cairns Commonwealth Games Celebrations to name a few.
In 2010 Jason was engaged with Queensland Theatre Company as an Emerging Artist. Jason holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Production) degree, graduating from QUT in 2007.
